Epoxy Coatings

epoxy being poured in the floor
Building a great property means taking care of a wide range of elements and structural components. A strong foundation is key, as are steady walls and a stable roof. Of course, the floors throughout your property are equally important, and will play a key role in creating a comfortable, attractive, and durable property. While concrete productions, in and of themselves, offer a high level of quality, there’s no doubt that you can add to that quality with the application of epoxy coatings. At Galveston Concrete Works, we’ve gone through the process of adding epoxy coatings to floors many times and, in every case, our customers have loved the work that we’ve completed on their behalf. If you want to raise the level of your property with an epoxy coating – or multiple coatings – bring us into the picture. You can learn more about the epoxy flooring service we provide by reading on below. For anybody with lingering doubts or questions, our customer service is ready to provide answers.

What Are Epoxy Coatings?
You probably realize that an epoxy coating is a layer that is applied to the surface of a concrete floor. But what exactly is it? In short, an epoxy coating is a mixture of resins and hardeners. When these are combined in the right proportions, it causes a chemical reaction, one that leads to many cross-polymer structures that are tightly fastened together, after the application is dry. This mixture is applied in uniform fashion, eventually hardening and providing a sturdy barrier for the surface that would otherwise have been porous.

Extra Durability
It’s common to find epoxy coatings in all sorts of settings, but they’re particularly common in commercial environments. Spaces where heavy machinery, vehicles, transportation infrastructure, and other potentially damaging goods require extra protection. With an epoxy coating, that’s exactly what you get. This type of surface coating is particularly effective at taking heavy, sudden impacts. If you’re trying to protect the floor in your garage, for example, this would be a sensible option. Of course, this also means you can expect your floor to last for longer than it might have otherwise survived.

Chemical Resistance
Warehouses, industrial facilities, and manufacturing complexes often have epoxy floors in place, and this is largely down to the impressive chemical resistance that the application provides. The chemical structure of the application means that it can withstand prolonged exposure to chemicals that would have totally ruined a floor without any protection. If this is a concern for you in your property, an epoxy coating is a sensible choice.

Easy Maintenance
Whether you’re thinking about driveways, patios, or interior floors, maintenance requirements are going to be something you’re interested in. Fortunately, for anybody who chooses to install an epoxy coating, you’ll be pleased to learn that it actually reduces the level of maintenance needed. Floors can easily be cleared and cleaned, with no need for further chemical applications. In this sense, you’re investing your money to save yourself both time and effort.
